Hannah Quinlivan: Anatomy of a Drawing

Hannah Quinlivan: Anatomy of a Drawing

The artist uses the glass-walled space of Gallery Four on Civic Square to dissect and display the elements of a drawing, in an inversion of classic anatomical drawing, which peels away layers of skin and flesh to expose the structure beneath.

Employing the conventions of those graphic traditions, Quinlivan separates various elements of a drawing and rearranges them on different spatial planes within the space, able to be viewed from different directions and angles; the whole interrogating our art-historical understanding of what can constitute a drawing.
