Curator Talk: Virginia Rigney, Senior Curator, introduced by CMAG Director, Sarah Schmidt

Wednesday 25 May: 1 – 2pm

Free, bookings essential

Join Virginia Rigney, Senior Curator Visual Arts, to discover more about the works and techniques of the artists featured in the exhibition, Connection Point: Contemporary established fibre textile artists of ACT and NSW.

Virginia will highlight the works of Canberra based artists including Jennifer Robertson whose sculptural panels use woven threads of basalt and Sally Blake who has extracted the dye of every species of eucalyptus to make a work that uses the language of abstraction to reflect on the diversity of nature. She will also introduce the work of the artists in the NSW collective, untethered fibre artists inc. CMAG invites you to explore the unexpected territory of contemporary fibre and textile practice – a medium that is at once so familiar in our daily lives and yet in the hands of these artists so extraordinary.
