Cnr London Circuit and City Square, Canberra City
Open today from 10am to 4pm
Thursday 13 July 10.00am - 1.00pm
In this free school holiday drop-in for primary school-aged children and their parents, you will be inspired by the Capturing Canberra exhibition to reinvent a favourite place or moment in time.
Capturing Canberra, features some of the most iconic moments in Canberra history, captured through the lens of talented photojournalists.
Local artist Akka Ballenger Constantin will lead a multidisciplinary process, mimicking an imaginary lens, for children to create a poem and combine it with collagraph, drawing and collage techniques to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
Rhythm, rhyme and repetition are good prompts for speaking aloud, for learning about voice, pitch, volume and inflection. Poetry can be an excellent gateway into spoken English, drama, music and dance, opening new creative avenues. Combined with art, it can create something truly unique.
