Philip Agius is a Canberra-based artist whose practice in contemporary jewellery explores the healing power of wearable objects. His distinctive tear-shaped forms, drawn from meditative mark-making, symbolise transformation and renewal.

In conversation with CMAG curator Nicole Sutherland, Agius will discuss his creative process and the influence of ideas such as lacrimae rerum ("the tears of things") on his work. Following the talk, guests are invited to view his exhibition Contemporary Amulets in the gallery.

Agius graduated from the Australian National University with a Master of Contemporary Practice in Art and Design (Advanced) in 2024. He was also awarded the Canberra Museum and Gallery Ramp Showcase Award through the ANU School of Art and Design's Emerging Artist Support Scheme.
