Ruth Waller

Dulle Griet (pastel on camouflage)

2003, acrylic, enamel on canvas

Robotic figure interfaced in landscape. One of a series of works by Waller based on a painting also titled Dulle Griet by Pieter Bruegel the elder (c.1525-1569). The art history of painting provides a source of imagery for Waller, who seeks to reinforce the value of the art of painting in contrast to the highly technological world of present day art practice.
