Bring your students into CMAG to view Outer Space: Stromlo to the Stars to gain insights into the achievements of the globally important Mount Stromlo Observatory. Students will get to examine a century old  telescope, depict themselves digitally as galaxies and play an arcade-style game that uses real science to blow-up space junk - while learning about Canberra’s history and scientific breakthroughs!

BEFORE YOUR VISIT

• Familiarise yourself with Outer Space: Stromlo to the Stars including the online exhibition
• Contact our Programs Bookings Officer via button to organise date and time of visit and to confirm all relevant details. We will also confirm if you would like to use our drawing supplies to add this activity to your visit
• Discuss the following museum behaviour expectations with your students:
• Walking - Please take care to walk only in the gallery.
• Inside voices - Please use quiet voices so that other visitors can enjoy the exhibition.
• Safe hands and bodies - Please do not to touch works of art as they are special and fragile. Please keep at least 1 metre away from works of art at all times.
• Doorways and thoroughfares - When transitioning through the gallery please allow plenty of room for other visitors to experience the exhibitions.
• Drawing activity - If you wish to undertake this activity during your visit, clipboards, paper and pencils will be distributed to students and must be returned to the red trolley in the CMAG foyer at the end of the visit. Students must be responsible with these materials and ensure they do not cause any damage. 

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

We will meet and greet each group in the foyer to orientate the group, and:

• Supply a trolley to store backpacks, food and drink – these must not be taken into the galleries.
• Provide an acknowledgement of country
• Reiterate safe gallery behaviours.
• Distribute clipboards, pencil and paper for a drawing activity in the gallery (if requested).
