Our Open Day marks the 50th anniversary of the Sidney Nolan Collection, gifted to the nation and proudly displayed at CMAG. Whether you're new to Nolan or already a fan, there's something on offer for everyone.

What's On:

• Curator-led Highlight Tours: Learn fascinating insights about the Nolan Collection. Tours run at 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, and 2:30pm in the Nolan Gallery.
• Conservation Cleaning Demonstration: Witness a conservator at work, doing a conservation clean on one of Nolan’s artworks from 10:30am to 1:00pm.
• Family Activities: Join the “Where’s Ned?” treasure hunt, create your own masterpiece at our painting station and enjoy Nolan-inspired chalk art.
• Spectacular Lyre Bird Costume: See the stunning costume designed by Sidney Nolan for The Display ballet, performed at Canberra Theatre’s opening in 1965.
• Free Ned Kelly Cupcakes: The first 50 visitors to the CMAG Café will receive a complimentary cupcake to celebrate Nolan’s 50-year milestone.

Our Open Day aligns with our friends next door at Canberra Theatre Centre, who are celebrating their 60th anniversary with a special event featuring rare backstage tours, family-friendly activities, and delicious food trucks.
